Tuaran District’s Earth Day
Yesterday on April 22, 2025, SaBC took part in Tuaran District’s Earth Day celebration with a landmark event that earned two entries in the Malaysia Book of Records:
📌 Largest Liposu Tree Planting Event in a Single Program :
A total of 8,800 Liposu saplings (Baccaurea lanceolata) were planted simultaneously, marking the largest single-event planting of this species in Malaysia.
📌 Most Schools Participating in a Simultaneous Tree Planting Program :
A total of 88 primary and secondary schools across Tuaran took part, with approximately 29,000 students involved in simultaneous tree planting efforts.
🌿 The event was officiated by Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Dato’ Sri Huang Tiong Sii, at the Sabah Co-Curriculum Centre, Kem Malangang, Kiulu, where he also announced a RM50,000 contribution to support ongoing sustainability programs.
🌿 During this event, SaBC took part in the exhibition, communicating to the public our roles in Sabah biodiversity management. For the first time ever, we presented the diorama that our interns prepared at our exhibition booth—an interactive educational display specifically designed to attract schoolchildren. Shoutout to our awesome interns, Mohamad Dzulkhairie Nadzmi bin Dzulkifli and Thirmorty Anak Idi, for their amazing idea and hard work in bringing this unique display to life! The diorama quickly became one of the main attractions, captivating young minds and fostering a deeper appreciation for the environment.
🌿 The celebration was organized by the Tuaran Parliamentary Community Service Centre, in collaboration with the Tuaran District Education Office (PPD Tuaran), the Department of Environment Sabah (JAS Sabah), and various government, private, and non-government organizations.
